Just over a month down since I started creating my (what will be) a masterpiece for my MA Creative Project even though it did mean changing from a documentary to a podcast, but I'm super happy with how my projects have come on so far which is surprising considering we are still in 'lock-down' and currently feel like I'm going round in circles. I've taken quite a bit of time off this week to enjoy the sunshine and have a 'few' beverages on the beach. However I have still found time in between to progress.
In the last week I have managed to record all of my interviews with my three cyclists which have turned out fantastic. I have gathered over 40 minutes of interview between them all which is more than enough for me to work from. I also met up with William from the recording studio on Saturday. I Inserted the interviews into the software and equalled all their voices out so they matched each other. You'd be surprised, it took a while to do as one interview had a background echo, one wasn't loud enough and one was beyond peaking. This however is okay because it helped me improved on my editing skills and use old knowledge from when I studied Sound Production at college.
Podcast aside, I wrote another 700 words into my first draft for the contextualisation so now totalling at 1750 words (minus referencing and introduction). Which is a great start, considering there is still around 70 days till hand in date.
I discovered a new producer within podcasts who I felt related well to my own. 'George the Poet' delivers a fresh take on city life through a mixture of storytelling, music, and fiction and talks about the relationship between rap music and education. After creating his podcasts he went on to write a book ‘Search Party’ – it contains a collection of poems with the idea being that we are all out there looking for something, and his poems were his way of finding himself. Even though George's background story is different to my cycling and mental wellness. The similarity here is that George's stories were told through a way of finding himself which relates to the cyclists in my podcast who use cycling as a way of finding themselves.
This week I will continue on adding more to my contextualisation before going to the recording studio at the weekend to continue on with my podcast. The weather is going back down to the usual '4 seasons in one day' climate so I wont be as distracted (I hope).
